Is Valley Waldorf City School offering remote learning

At this time we are offering in-person learning and independent study for students unable to attend on campus.

What about events and gatherings?

  • It is important to remember that whether or not the school cancels a gathering or event it is up to each parent and family to ensure that only those who are free from illness attend those events.

  • Students, employees and families with active signs of illness should stay home until their illness has passed according to the County’s isolation and quarantine requirements.

How will my child’s education continue in the event of a COVID-19 infection?

  • Waldorf Education, due to its high relational and experiential nature is challenging to provide in an online or remote format.  If necessary, the school is prepared to offer independent study with various instructional materials and lessons so that the requirements for our students are met and to prevent gaps in important core content.

  • VWCS will work thoughtfully to keep our offerings relevant, focused and remain within our educational philosophy and principles. There are things the school cannot re-create in a remote setting; such as some practical arts lessons and some of the activity-based classes.

What additional steps is the school taking at this time?

The school will take extra care with cleaning and disinfection processes, with particular attention to common surfaces:

  • VWCS employees will have access to additional disinfectant supplies to clean common surfaces throughout the school day.

  • All employees are required to maintain appropriate hand washing and sanitizing protocols upon arriving at school and throughout the day.

  • Faculty will continue to work with the children on effective hand washing and respiratory etiquette, and we ask parents to do the same.

  • VWCS will send ill children and employees home, emphasizing that they may return after following County testing, isolation and/or quarantine requirements.
